Why is the Church Important?

Why is the Church important? That's a bad question because it assumes that you think the Church is important, which in our current culture may be a bad assumption. Let me rephrase the question and make it personal... do you think the Church is important? How about this church, Faith Oakville? Is Faith Oakville important to you? If so, how would someone know that? Let's talk about it.

Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

For Adult Homes and Groups
Read Hebrews 10:24-25.
1. In your group, discuss what each of you think is the purpose of the Church, to include specifically Faith Oakville.
2. How does the purpose of Sunday morning worship complement/compare/contrast the purpose of the Church?
3. Have you ever attended a funeral for someone for whom there was a lot of evidence of faith (e.g. faithful worship, praying, sharing their faith, serving etc.)? If so, how did the evidence of their faith change the tenor of the funeral and/or the grieving process?
4. Knowing that all of us, regardless of how much or little evidence of faith there is in our lives, are all at the mercy of an all-loving God... how do you provide hope or comfort to the family of a person who died without having attended church in a long time?
5. Pray for specific people that have little evidence of faith, praying that Jesus would be the object of their faith, helping grow their belief even in the presence of unbelief.

For Families with Kids
1. Read Hebrews 10:24-25 with your family.
2. What is your favorite thing about church?
3. Do you feel like you belong at our church? Why or why not?
4. Why is church important?
5. Bonus Activity: Pray for God to show your family one person that you could invite to church this week.
