Today we continue in our message series titled Story Time, where we are talking about some of the parables that Jesus told. And today we are talking about a parable that, in some ways, may be too familiar to you, the parable sometimes referred to as “The Lost Son” or “The Prodigal Son,” neither of which is a great name for this parable... and I can say that because God didn’t give it that title, editors did. So let’s talk about what a better name might be.

Jesus was a master storyteller. He used simple word pictures, in what we call parables, to teach profound spiritual lessons. The stories He told spoke of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, persistence in prayer, humility, being ready for Christ’s return, handling God’s resources, and receiving God’s love, as well as many other topics.
