Tables probably play a larger role in the world than we recognize. The dining tables and kitchen tables of the world may be the place where most conflict is resolved, the place where people are able to set aside the things that separate them and share a meal together. There is an unspoken truth that sharing a meal unites us. Sitting around the table binds us together in an inexplicable way... and The Lord’s Table is no different. It is at the Lord’s table where we are again reconciled to God. It is at the Lord’s Table where we are united to Christ, but also united to each other in Christ. It is at the Lord’s table where our community as a body of believers is in some ways most visible and distinct.
