Gifted to Serve

Question 1: What if people did not serve outside of the church walls, connecting people to the extraordinary life in Jesus?
Answer 1: We would not be carrying out the mission of the church.
Question 2: What if people did not serve within the church walls, living out the values of this church (e.g. creating space for others, being givers versus takers, taking the next step)?
Answer 2: Just watch the message; you’ll see…

1 Corinthians 12:4-11.
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills.

For Adult Homes, Groups, and Families with Kids
1. Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.
2. Ask everyone to share a story of a time when they recently helped someone else.
3. Now discuss some follow up questions. Adjust the wording as necessary for kids.
• What did it cost them to help? Time? Money? Emotional currency?
• Why did they make the sacrifice to help despite the costs?
• In what ways were they blessed by serving?
4. Is there a need outside of the group with which you can help individually or collectively? Discuss as a group.
5. Pray for God to create in each person a love of serving others.
