We are all experts at sinning and professionals at covering up our sin. We hide from it, deny it, cover it up, and blame others. How did we learn to do that? It is in our sinful DNA that we have inherited from generations and generations. In scripture, we see that Adam and Eve set the cover up in process for us. Yet, God covers our sin with the blood of Christ. When God sees us, he sees us covered in Christ’s blood. In Baptism we are covered by God’s Word attached to the water that washes away our sin…and in the sacrament, we are Marked by God.
