Dan Brevard

Elder

I was born the oldest of five in the city of St. Louis. By the time I was two years old, we had moved and settled in south county. My mother was a very devout Catholic and was most definitely the one who planted the seed of faith in me. Unfortunately, she passed when I was a young teenager, and with her so did my need for faith. I enlisted in the USAF soon after turning 17, and what probably should have been a good start in life was actually the beginning of a very dark period of using drugs and alcohol. It wasn’t until I was almost 30 that I’d hit a bottom and was forced to do something to turn my life around. Thankfully, God had a better plan for my life than I could have ever dreamed of myself.

By God’s grace, I would make it into recovery. I met my wonderful wife-to-be, Nancy, along the path to recovery. We were married a year or so after we met, and thus started my journey of faith in the Lutheran church. We raised our three sons, John, Justin, and Josh in Imperial, where we have lived for 35 years. We have been married for over 36 years as of August 31, 2021.

We spend much of our time raising our two grandchildren Jullian (12) and Cecilia (10). In our spare time, we take care of Nancy’s mother who also lives with us.

When I was 37, I returned to school and have an AA degree in Computer Programming from Jefferson College and a BS degree in Computer Science from Webster University. I recently retired from Enterprise Rent-A-Car where I worked for 25 years in their IT department.

Nancy and I came to visit Faith by invitation from a friend in 2004, and we knew it was the church for us after that first visit. I currently enjoy serving as a church elder and I love going on the annual mission trip to Pine Ridge SD. It’s such a great joy to serve alongside other men who serve as elders and meet and serve with others on the mission trips to Pine Ridge. Faith Oakville is a great church family. I feel very blessed to be a part of the family.
