The Helmet of Salvation
The Helmet of Salvation is our greatest ally in the spiritual battle we all face because it represents hope - the hope we have in Christ and the salvation He's won for us. Because we have hope, we can overcome anything that comes our way; we fight from a place of victory. If you're feeling defeated, put on the helmet of salvation, and it will protect you from giving up.
Ephesians 6:17
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
For Adult Homes and Groups
1. Read Ephesians 6:10-20. Our specific focus is v17a - the helmet of salvation.
2. What are specific spiritual battles we face as Christians? If you’re comfortable, share with each other the spiritual battles you’re facing right now. After sharing, take time to pray over each other.
3. How does the helmet of salvation give us hope?
4. How can we keep our minds focused on the hope of salvation?
5. Pair people in your group to be “hope partners” for each other. For the next week, make it a point to text each other a simple message of Christian hope/encouragement every day.
For Families with Kids
1. Read Ephesians 6:10-20. This week is all about the helmet of salvation (v17a).
2. Plan to visit the Saint Louis Art Museum as a family. Visit the display of different types of armor. Which one was your favorite and why? Which ones would be the best / worst for protecting you?
3. How does the helmet of salvation protect us? Help us to be brave?
4. What does the helmet of salvation remind us of? How can we make sure we put it on every day?
5. Every morning this week, before leaving for the day, hug one another and say one thing about what Jesus has done, is doing, or will do to give one another hope for the day.
